The Magic Mirror and Magic Wand

How would people who know you describe you?

Would they say you’re ‘competitive’ and ‘adventurous’?

Are you the social butterfly of the group who is ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘inspiring’?

Would the words ‘steady’ and ‘team player’ fit you like a glove?

Or, are you ‘conscientious’ and ‘diplomatic’?

Maybe the situation determines how you show up. When you’re stressed out, do some behaviors rise to the surface more quickly than others?

All of us have different behaviors; some simply show up more often than others.

Have you known an otherwise quiet and introverted person who just ‘snapped’ when the pressure built up? How about a normally talkative extrovert who ‘shut down’ unexpectedly?

What if you could predict how almost anyone in your life would react in any given situation? What if you could predict how YOU would react, and could give people fair warning?

Imagine the headaches, arguments and wasted time you could eliminate from your life.

Want to know the secret?

It’s a simple 10-minute question and answer instrument called the DISC™ Assessment. DISC is an acronym for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. It gives you a surprising and sometimes scarily accurate snapshot of how you handle problems, people, the pace of your environment and rules and procedures.

Keep in mind that we talk to people the way we want people to talk to us.

Tip: The next time you’re in a conversation, instead of trying to ‘convince’ the other person to see things your way, notice how they try to persuade YOU. Then match their tone and use similar words to talk to them. It may take some practice, but I’ll bet you’ll be surprised at how your conversations begin to change.

Knowing your behavioral style is your ‘magic mirror’. It can give you the insight you need to communicate with power, passion and persuasion.

Knowing someone’s behavioral style can be your ‘magic wand’ to turn even the most stressful conversations into ones of consensus and cooperation. Find out more about the DISC™ by visiting www.YourCoachFor- Success.com and clicking on the ‘Products’ link.

At the end of the day, we all simply want to be heard.
