Business After Hours at IKEA, Oralndo

A diverse mix of professionals, first-time visitors and guests met at IKEA’s
community room near the Mall at Millenia on June 17, 2010, to network and
exchange business ideas. The monthly Business Afterhours event, conducted
by the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, was sponsored by
SunTrust Bank.

Chamber members and guests sampled a variety of IKEA-prepared
sandwiches, desserts and drinks while SunTrust discussed its portfolio of
financial services. SunTrust, which operates approximately 1,700 banks
across 11 southern states and the District of Columbia, offers its customers
private and commercial banking as well as trust services, mortgage banking,
mutual funds, and securities underwriting. In Orlando, the bank is perhaps
best recognized for occupying the 35-story SunTrust Center at 200
South Orange Avenue – Orlando’s tallest building.

SunTrust, a new member of the Chamber, was represented by Paige
Baron, Chris Kendall, Carol Pickering and Linda Stout.
The Asian American Chamber welcomed a record eight (8) new members
to its ranks. The new members’ professions include financial planning,
IT/website management, interior design with an emphasis on feng shui
layout, and international business.

Event Chair Gail Rayos of Wragg & Casas Public Relations and Chamber
President Glenn Leong announced plans for the next year (2010-2011)
to celebrate the Asian American Chamber’s 25th anniversary, including
major quarterly events. The official 25th anniversary is July, 2011.

The Chamber’s next monthly Business Afterhours events will
occur on July 15th at Tastings, a wine bar in downtown Orlando, and on
August 19th at the newly designed Sonesta Hotel on Lake Ivanhoe. Visit
