The Asian American Heritage Council
Potluck was a great success with over 250 in
attendance. At Jay Blanchard Park, children
and families came to eat, play, and relax in
the beautiful Florida summer weather. Livingstone
Community Church performed a few
heavenly gospel ballads with their band and
the Filipino Student Association performed
a traditional Filipino candle light dance
as the audience watched with excitement
and joy. Various organizations throughout
Central Florida came together in unity and delighted
in each others presence and cooking:
Chinese American Association of Central
Florida, Livingstone Community Church,
Vietnamese Association of Central Florida,
Vovinam Vietnamese Martial Arts, Council
of Filipino American Organizations, Taiwanese
Chamber
of Commerce, Asian American
Chamber of Commerce, Pi Delta Psi Fraternity
at UCF, Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Vietnamese American Student Association,
Asian Student Association, and more.
Cultural food was abundant; succulent
chinese stir fried noodles, delicious filipino
chicken adobo,
fresh and healthy vietnamese
spring rolls, sweet and flaky baklava
pastries from the middle east, pad thai, over
three varieties of home made fried rice, some
with chinese sausage, some with chicken
and peas, but all were delicious.
The event was sponsored by Orlando
Magic and Universal Studios. Universal
Studios raffl ed off exciting
passes to their
park and Citywalk and the Orlando Magic
raffl ed off various prized possessions from
the Magic team including the grand prize of a
basketball jersey signed by the entire Magic
Team! Please join us in wishing the Orlando
Magic success in their NBA Finals games
against the LA Lakers this summer!
The next event will be in November which
will be the Asian American Student Achievers
Scholarships Banquet which will give
over $7000.00 to local area youth who excel
in academics and demonstrates cultural
awareness. For more info check out aahc.synthasite.com

of
Asian Americans from building the Transcontinental
Railroad, to developing science and
