North American Taiwanese Heritage Week 2008

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide
during the month of May to honor the cultures, traditions, and achievements
of Asian Pacific Islanders in the United States.
Since 1999, Congressman David Wu (OR) and the co-chairs of
the Congressional Taiwan Caucus have supported the celebration of
Taiwanese American Heritage Week starting each Mother’s Day
Weekend during the month of May.
On May 5th, City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer proclaimed the
National Taiwanese American Heritage Week May 11-18, 2008
in the City of Orlando. Director General Owen Hsieh from Taipei
Economic and Cultural Offi ce in Miami received the proclamation and
Tony Coolidge facilitated a presentation of Taiwanese Flag to Mayor
Buddy Dyer in recognition of the Sister City Relationship.
