Traditional music and dance performances,
soccer championship, beauty pageant, and
authentic Laotian cuisine were all part of this year’s
Lao New Year on April 18 & 19 at the Wat Navaram
Buddhist Temple
in Sanford , Florida . The festival
drew several thousands people
from all over
Florida in two days.
Lao New Year is considered to be the most
important and biggest traditional
festival in the
Laotian community. It is a day of rebirth and purification.
The celebration includes joyous activities,
family union, making offerings to
Buddha and gaining blessings from others.
